Rwanda is a landlocked country located in east central Africa surrounded by Uganda to the north, Tanzania to the east, Burundi to the south and the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DROC) to the west and northwest.

Rwanda has 30 districts. Nyagatare with 1,741 square kilometres is the largest followed by Gatsibo.  Nyarugenge with 135 square kilometres is the smallest district in Rwanda.

Mount Karisimbi is the highest mountain with a height of 4,507 metres followed by Mount Sabyinyo with a height of 3,645 metres.

Longest River

Rivers Kagera which is the most distant source of River Nile is the longest river in Rwanda.

Lake

Lake Kivu is the largest lake  in Rwanda with 2,700 square kilometres. It is  one of the known exploding lakes in the world. The lake contains methane gas estimated at 65 cubic kilometers and cardon dioxide estimated at 256 cubic kilometers.

Largest Forest

Nyungwe Forest is the largest forest in Rwanda covering 1,013 square kilometres followed by Giswati Forest covering 1,000 square kilometres.

Number of National Parks: The country has 4 National Parks with Akagera being the largest covering an area of 1,200 square kilometres
